What does anime mean to you?
Anime has been a form of expression for me for quite awhile now. When I get upset or angry I watch Fullmetal, when I’m sad or lonely I watch Evangelion, when i feel lost or confused I watch Samurai Champloo, when I’m feeling a bit dangerous I watch Initial D, when I feel happy I watch Azumanga Daioh, when I feel like a pimp I watch GTO, It’s not that i’m antisocial or anything it’s just hard for me to convey how i’m feeling and it gets so frustrating at times, but lately more and more people are starting to understand what i mean when i say things like “Today is like an Evangelion day” or “I kinda feel like Onizuka” I’m still not very good at expressing myself however -.-
Hi there, I’m Alice! Well, I finally get a chance to talk and introduce myself and I have no idea what to say, typical right? So let’s start with the obvious. I’m here because I love both anime and manga. I started like most people with the shows on the TV, Pokémon being a huge part, then Cardcaptor Sakura and Naruto which I ended up watching on the internet, subbed because I loved it so much. Eventually getting into manga and I’ve never come away from them! Despite the fact a lot of my friends might not know it I try to introduce them into it, and they like quite a few now! Hello, Mayoi here! My obsession with anime begins with Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Dragon Ball on TV, but really started when I was 15 with Honey and Clover, and it’s been a crazy ride since then. I am currently in university, hoping to one day make a difference in the world. When I am not reading manga or watching anime, I waste my life away on TV shows, movies (lots of Bollywood) and books. What does anime mean to you?
Anime is like my escape - I can forget about the real world for just a little bit and pretend to be somewhere else. Since I was a little kid I would pretend I was Cardcaptor Sakura or Sailor Venus, and it really helped with me being so imaginative. If it weren’t for anime, I would never have met some of the most amazing people in my life, and it has been a shared interest that brought me and my little brother closer. It is a way for me cry when I want to, laugh when I want to, or be blown away when I want to. It is a major part of my life and I don’t know where I would be without it.
Hello, I’m Kanade! I’m a high school I.B student who resides in Arizona. As you probably guessed, I’m a huge fan of anime. I started watching shows like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Inuyasha when I was around the age of 6, and started reading manga when I was 8 or so. Hi there everyone. My name is Tomoya and I’m glad to be part of the staff for AAC. I’m Filipino and living in California. I currently study in San Jose State University majoring in Computer Engineering. I’ve had a “roller coaster” road when it comes to Anime. In my kid years, I remember watching early anime shows like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Inuyasha. But I was only watching those shows because they were on TV. I didn’t know that there were other shows that were out of the TV box. Years pass by and anime started to not show on TV, which made me lose interest in the genre. But after I graduated from high school and started my freshman year in college, a group of friends brought me back into anime and I began to love the genre again. Anime has always been in my life and I have never regretted about it. I love playing video games (PS3 ID: nateb39007), Rock Band and Uncharted are my favorite games. I play the guitar and piano, really interested in sports (So anything you talk about NFL, NBA, etc. I’ll understand what you are talking about). And also love to play sports (mostly Basketball and Golf). I’m an all around guy so whenever I hang out with my group of friends, I usually tag along with them. I love watching comedies like Big Bang Theory, The Office, Modern Family, Two and a Half men, and others. My favorite movies are Inception, The Social Network, and The Dark Knight. The Avengers may be the next movie in my favorites but we’ll have to see when I watch it. And I guess that’s all I can say about myself :).
